Ringing in 2026 with NYE Resolutions

New Year brings New Possibilities

Personally I’m not huge on New Years resolutions. They come as fleeting thoughts when the clock is about to strike midnight. Most never come true, and if they do, they only last a month or so. There’s usually no real plan for how those resolutions will actually be achieved once real life kicks back in.

Complaints aside, I totally get the natural feeling of a new year bringing new beginnings; a chance to address those things you may have neglected in the prior year. Resolutions are a great way to get a pulse on what’s important to you and to society as a whole. Three of the most popular resolutions to ring in the new year in 2026 were… drumroll… shocker! Exercise more, improve health, and try something new.

What if there was one activity that quietly checked all three boxes at once?

Bike Touring: One Resolution, Many Wins

Bike touring doesn’t look like a traditional resolution. There’s no gym membership, no strict schedule, and no “Day 1” pressure. But that’s exactly why it works.

1. Exercise (Without Feeling Like Exercise)

When you’re bike touring, movement is built into the day. You’re pedaling to the next town, the next campsite, or the next bakery—not forcing yourself through a workout you dread. The miles add up naturally, and before you know it, you’ve spent hours being active without staring at a clock or a mirror.

2. Health Beyond the Physical

Yes, bike touring improves cardiovascular fitness and strength—but the health benefits go further. Spending long days outside, reducing screen time, sleeping deeply after honest effort, and simplifying daily decisions can do wonders for mental health. Many riders find that time on the bike brings clarity, stress relief, and a reset that’s hard to replicate elsewhere.

3. Trying Something New (Without Reinventing Yourself)

You don’t need to quit your job, move across the world, or become an “adventure cyclist” overnight. A bike tour can be as simple as a weekend overnight close to home. It’s new enough to feel exciting, but familiar enough to feel approachable—especially if you already enjoy riding a bike, even casually.

Why Bike Touring Sticks When Resolutions Don’t

Traditional resolutions often fail because they’re abstract. “Get healthier” or “exercise more” doesn’t tell you what to do tomorrow. Bike touring gives you something tangible to plan: a route, a destination, a date on the calendar. It turns intention into action.

And maybe most importantly, it’s fun. When something is enjoyable, it doesn’t rely on willpower alone—it becomes something you want to do again.

So why not give Bike Touring a shot!!
